What is your background before joining the WS Helpline board?
Prior to joining the board, I had been involved with several community organizations through professional relationships and organizations. I volunteered for organizations that were tackling animal welfare, cures for cancer, youth homelessness, arts in the community, and urban farming.

Why did you join the WS Helpline board?
After moving here in 2012, I was looking for a way to get involved in the West Seattle neighborhood. I’ve always believed that if you live in a community and earn a living working in that community, it is incumbent upon you to serve and support that community in return. I attended the Taste of West Seattle after hearing about it from a friend of mine, and I was impressed not only by the event, but also by the board members I met there and their passion around the organization. Here I am 4 years later, proudly serving as President of the Board of Directors.

What do you like about the WS Helpline?
What I love about the West Seattle Helpline is the ability to give where I live. The Helpline’s focus on serving the West Seattle neighborhood and its members provides a great opportunity to serve where I live and make an impact. There are so many great organizations in this city with worthy causes, but the Helpline stands apart because we get to see the impact of our support and see our donations at work in our neighborhood. We have a great team of dedicated volunteers, board members, and staff members who bring so much energy and passion to their work, and they are all such a pleasure to work with. I may be a little biased, but I also think we have one of the greatest neighborhood events of the year: The Taste of West Seattle!

Thanks for your great work, Nick!
