Below you can find our Coronavirus response, changes in services, updated hours, and general resources. If you were referred to this page because you are outside of our service area, please click here to see rental assistance by zip code.

In this time of uncertainty, it is our priority to keep our community safe and healthy. As the coronavirus impacts our entire region, we are committed to ensuring our neighbors continue to have access to food, emergency financial assistance, and other basic needs. Thank you for your patience as we update how we operate.

Food Bank: We have moved to providing pre-packed grocery bags of food to families and individuals coming to the Food Bank. These will be distributed outside the building during the distribution hours listed below.

Home Delivery: Our home delivery program is operating as normal. If you need a Home Delivery, please call 206.932.9023. People at higher risk for COVID-19/coronavirus infection and anyone in poor health are encouraged to stay home.

Helpline Services: We are continuing to process applications for emergency financial assistance for rent, utility, and move-in deposits. Call 206.932.4357 or fill out an online application here.

The Clothesline: The Clothesline will be open on Thursdays, but in order to allow volunteers to properly sanitize and practice social distancing, please call 206.932.4357 to make an appointment. We are not accepting any donations for the Clothesline until the Stay Home, Stay Safe order has been lifted.

Backpack Program: We are communicating with community partners to determine how to best ensure our students stay fed during school closures.

    CAIR Washington has a COVID-19 Help Hotline and Language Assistance. Resource areas include Employment Assistance, Food Assistance, Healthcare Resources, Rent and Utility Assistance, School and Childcare Information, and more. Call 206-624-0506, 206-367-4081 or complete this form.
  3. Rental assistance:
    Landlords cannot begin eviction proceedings until after May 16 or the end of Seattle’s state of emergency. In the meantime, United Way is working to get on an online application live later this week for their Home Base program. If you are seeking rental assistance, please enter your email here they will email you soon as it is live.
  4. Unemployment benefits:
    Anyone who has lost their job due to coronavirus, has reduced hours, or has had to take time off to self-quarantine or care for a sick relative (and does not get paid sick time from work) should apply for unemployment benefits with the Employment Security Division (ESD, esd.wa.gov). United Way has a helpful roundup of what to do if you’re suddenly unemployed here.
  5. Taxes:
    Tax deadlines have been extended until July, but in the meantime see the United Way free tax prep online at uwkc.org/need-help/tax-help/
  6. COVID-19 and Stigma:
    Immigrant and refugee community leaders and organizations urge everyone to know the facts about the coronavirus, not to stigmatize individuals and families from particular groups, and to speak out against bias and harassment.
  7. Help at Home:
    Last, being isolated for long periods of time or not being able to get outdoors can feel miserable. Be well, take care of yourself and we can take care of each other!
