This year’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors Dinner & Auction reminded us of how fortunate we are to be a part of this community. Over 150 of our friends, neighbors, colleagues, and family joined us at the Hall at Fauntleroy. We bid on silent auction items donated by local businesses, tasted local wine, beer, and bourbon, savored delicious appetizers and entrees from Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes Catering & Events, and sprinted to glory in a dessert dash filled with delicacies from local bakeries. We heard inspiring words from King County Councilmember Joe McDermott, who talked about the vital role the West Seattle Helpline plays in strengthening our community and how much we have grown since his tenure as President of our Board of Directors from 2004-2007.
It was a wonderful, fun, and heartwarming evening. Most exciting of all, we raised over $87,000 to support our emergency assistance programs! This is the largest fundraising event in the history of our organization, exceeding our goal for the evening by over $20,000! Those funds are helping keep our neighbors safe, dry, and warm in their homes right now.
Once again, local businesses and organizations amazed us with their generosity by providing enough in sponsorship contributions to cover all of the expenses for the event. This means every dollar raised from ticket sales, auction bids, raffle tickets, the wine pull, raise-the-paddle donations (including an incredible $10,000 matching donation from Nucor Steel) go directly to supporting low-income families in West Seattle as they recover from a crisis. We cannot thank our sponsors enough for their generosity!
Thank you the outstanding volunteers, event planning committee, everyone who attended the event, all everyone who helped make the night a success. We are honored to be your neighbor!
