Since 1989 the West Seattle Helpline has been funded by many individuals, businesses, and churches within the West Seattle Community. We have only one paid employee and are staffed primarily by a corps of volunteers who care about the needs of their neighbors.

Mission
The West Seattle Helpline is a nonprofit social service agency offering emergency assistance for our West Seattle neighbors.  We provide information, referrals, clothing, and financial assistance to help working families in need.  We strive to strengthen our community through “neighbors helping neighbors.”

Vision

Empowering our neighbors to gain back self-sufficiency after facing an emergency.

Core Values

Local community service and contribution.  We understand that positive change starts with helping our neighbors and investing in the community in which we live.

Respect and dignity.   We treat all connected with our organization with dignity and respect regardless of their background.

Opportunity and empowerment.  We work towards providing opportunities to empower community members and facilitate greater independence.

Compassion and trust.  We create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment that promotes trust within our community.

Administration
Day-to-day operations are managed by the Executive Director who lives in West Seattle.
